Show Notes
Guiding Scripture
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
Key Points
A wound is the absence of love or the presence of something bad when we should have received love
There are Type A and Type B wounds. A = Absence of something that should have been present. B = Bad thing that happened that shouldn’t have happened.
The seven deadly wounds are abandonment, rejection, fear, shame, confusion, powerlessness, and hopelessness
There is a difference between an experience and a wound
Powerlessness can manifest as being overwhelmed
Practical Application
What do you think about when you think about a broken heart?
When you notice a distressing emotion or thought, turn to the Lord right away and ask what He wants you to see and know.
Where is a safe place you can share your experience(s) or wonderings about the seven deadly wounds?
Write about the things that came to mind as you listened to the episode in relation to the seven deadly wounds. Try to identify any wounds you may have experienced and communicate that to Jesus in a written prayer.
Divide your life into 5 or 10 year sections. Reflect and write down any Type A (absence of good) and Type B (presence of bad) wounds you suffered. Invite Jesus into each of those experiences.
